Educational Leadership

The primary mission of the Department of Educational Leadership is the development of individuals for leadership roles at all levels of education and related business/industry enterprises. Its scope includes PK-12 Education Leadership , Higher Education Leadership , and Workforce Education and Development . Our Department offers several programs, many of which involve theoretical constructs and practitioner training for those interested in careers as public or private educational leaders, policy analysis, and teachers in business and industry occupations that require educational and leadership skills or degrees focusing on educational research.

Master Admission Requirements

Students must fulfill graduate college and departmental requirements to complete the admissions process.

Step I. Graduate College Admissions Process

Students must first apply for admission to the UNLV Graduate College where their application materials are evaluated and forwarded to the Department of Educational Leadership for further review. A baccalaureate or advanced graduate degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university is required. Admission requirements to the Graduate College include:

  • Completed application and non-refundable admission and application fee.
  • One copy of official transcripts from all institutions attended after high school (a minimum GPA of 2.75 for all undergraduate work or a 3.00 for the last two years of undergraduate work).

Step II. Departmental Admission Requirements

Complete the Graduate College admission requirements and provide the Department of Educational Leadership with the following:

  • One copy of official transcripts from all institutions attended after high school
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Professional resume or vita
  • Statement of Interest
  • Indication of interest in a graduate assistantship, when applicable
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admissions Test
    (GMAT) scores.

The admission deadlines are
  • Summer: March 15
  • Fall: June 15
    • If an applicant wishes to apply for a graduate assistantship, application to the program for Fall admission must be complete by April 15
  • Spring: November 15
