Educational Leadership

The primary mission of the Department of Educational Leadership is the development of individuals for leadership roles at all levels of education and related business/industry enterprises. Its scope includes PK-12 Education Leadership , Higher Education Leadership , and Workforce Education and Development . Our Department offers several programs, many of which involve theoretical constructs and practitioner training for those interested in careers as public or private educational leaders, policy analysis, and teachers in business and industry occupations that require educational and leadership skills or degrees focusing on educational research.

Workplace Learning and Performance Professional

The Workplace Learning and Performance Professional strand is designed to prepare individuals who desire careers as process consultants, knowledge managers, chief learning officers in private sector industry, or university faculty. This strand is the newest option for students in the Ph.D. program. As such, it is evolving. Eventually students who pursue this strand will also be qualified to apply for ASTD's Certified Professional in Learning and Performance credential. Each of the nine competencies specific to this credential is (or will be) covered in one or more courses in the Ph.D. program research core, program core, or workplace professional strand.

Examples of courses currently available that will fulfill the specialty requirements for the Workplace Learning and Performance strand (choices require advisor approval). Courses, which have been taken at the master's level either at UNLV or another institution should not be repeated for credit (* indicates master's courses).
