Advising
All doctoral students are assigned to the Higher and Work Force Education Programs Coordinator for initial advising. Students should identify a program chair within the first year and a half of their program. Once this person has been identified, he/she becomes the student's primary advisor.
A students can take up to 15 credits as a non-degree seeking student at UNLV, which with the program coordinator's consent can be applied to his/her doctoral program of study, once he/she has been admitted to the program.
Students can transfer up to 20 credits into their program of study from another institution. All courses to be transferred in must be approved by the program coordinator, subject to examination of course syllabi. No courses that fulfill a requirement in the master's program of study that a student is using to fulfill the master's admissions requirement, can be transferred into the doctoral program of study. If courses fulfill the requirements of a second master's or an unfinished doctoral degree, they can be considered for program of study inclusion.
