Pamela S. Salazar

Dr. Pamela S. Salazar is an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Leadership. Her areas of expertise include the principalship, instructional leadership, school improvement, supervision of instruction, and curriculum development. Currently, she is the coordinator of the Collaborative Principal Preparation Program, which is a joint venture between the Clark County School District and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The aim of this program is to prepare future administrators for positions within the Clark County Schools. Dr. Salazar has served as a building principal, assistant principal, and dean. A former physics, math, and computer science teacher, Dr. Salazar has taught both middle school and high school students. Dr. Salazar serves as the co-editor for Connections, an educational journal that focuses on the preparation and development of principals. She is actively involved in Nevada Project Improve through the Nevada State Department of Education where she serves as a consultant on leadership for school improvement. In addition, she serves on the NCATE accreditation board, is the state chair for Northwest Accreditation, and co-chairs the task force on principal preparation and development for the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
