Educational Leadership

The primary mission of the Department of Educational Leadership is the development of individuals for leadership roles at all levels of education and related business/industry enterprises. Its scope includes PK-12 Education Leadership , Higher Education Leadership , and Workforce Education and Development . Our Department offers several programs, many of which involve theoretical constructs and practitioner training for those interested in careers as public or private educational leaders, policy analysis, and teachers in business and industry occupations that require educational and leadership skills or degrees focusing on educational research.

Gene E. Hall

HALL

Currently, Dr. Hall is a professor in the Department of Educational Leadership. From 1999-2004, he served as Dean of the UNLV College of Education. From 1988 to 1990, he was a faculty member at the University of Northern Colorado, where he also served as the Dean of the College of Education for five years. Before that he was a Professor of Educational Leadership at the University of Florida (1986-88), and was a faculty member and research project and center director of the national R&D Center for Teacher Education at The University of Texas at Austin (1968-86).

Dr. Hall's research and scholarship have been centered on understanding the change process in organizational settings. He is the lead author of the Concerns Based Adoption Model (CBAM) , which examines the personal side of change processes and the role of the leaders' Change Facilitator Style. He and his international colleagues evaluate, assess and study change processes from this perspective.

Dr. Hall also is a national leader in relation to accreditation of teacher education institutions. He has served on various committees for the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education (AACTE). From 1999 to 2007, he served as the director of a Ford Foundation funded (AACTE) project, Partnerships for Excellence in Teacher Education (PETE), which provides technical assistance to institutions that are preparing for their first national accreditation.
