James R. Crawford

Professor James R. Crawford is the newest faculty member in the K-12 Educational Leadership Program within the Department of Educational Leadership. Currently, he is co-coordinator of the Collaborative Principal Preparation Program, which is a joint venture between the Clark County School District and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The aim of the program is to prepare future administrators for positions within the Clark County Schools. Prior to joining the faculty at UNLV, professor Crawford served as Associate Director for the University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA). He was also a clinical associate in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis at the University of Missouri. His most recent publications center around Charter Schools, Teacher Empowerment, and accountability and autonomy in Charter Schools. His work in progress revolves around administrator supply, demand and retention, block scheduling, and the examination of factors that inhibit or promote achievement in at risk children.
