Educational Leadership

The primary mission of the Department of Educational Leadership is the development of individuals for leadership roles at all levels of education and related business/industry enterprises. Its scope includes PK-12 Education Leadership , Higher Education Leadership , and Workforce Education and Development . Our Department offers several programs, many of which involve theoretical constructs and practitioner training for those interested in careers as public or private educational leaders, policy analysis, and teachers in business and industry occupations that require educational and leadership skills or degrees focusing on educational research.

Center for Workforce Development and Research

Overview

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas's Center for Workforce Development and Research (Center) provides comprehensive workforce services to the business and educational communities of Las Vegas. The Center is located in the Educational Leadership department in the College of Education.

The Center's unique programs encompass outstanding training for educators, employees, and training professionals, workforce related research and expert data analysis-customized for clients and partners ranging from schools to private corporations.

The Center was built upon the principle that qualified and skilled workers create stronger companies and a healthier economy. The Center's exceptional set of programs benefit unemployed and underemployed workers, corporate trainers, and secondary school students and teachers.

The Center's research division provides tracking, measurement and certification of data to determine the effectiveness of workplace training techniques and programs.

Vision

The Center's vision is to be recognized as a premier Workforce Development Center that provides employee development services in the public and private sectors.

Mission

The mission of the Center is to provide comprehensive workforce-related services, training, and research to the workforce and education communities in order to help maximize opportunities and remain competitive for the challenges of the 21st century.

Goals and Objectives

The Center's goals are:

  • To provide resource services to the workforce and education communities regarding training, education, and career options.
  • To provide comprehensive professional development and customized training to both educators and business/industry throughout the state of Nevada.
  • To conduct and provide research services and information to the University and Community College System of Nevada, state departments and the workforce community at large.
