Mario Martinez
Mario Martinez is an associate professor in Educational Leadership at
the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Prior to joining the faculty
at UNLV, Mario worked at New Mexico State University for six years in
the Department of Educational Management and Development. Mario has served
as an advisory board member or consultant for the National Center for
Public Policy and Higher Education, The Education Commission of the States
and New York University. He also conducts training and education seminars
with business and educational organizations on an ongoing basis. Mario's research has examined the link between state policy and higher
education finance and governance. He has published in such journals as
the Review of Higher Education, The Journal of Higher Education and Planning
for Higher Education. His current research activity pertains to the intersection
among demographic changes, future access, and state policy. Mario also
directs a Ford-funded project, Bridging Higher Education top the states,
which brings together scholars, state government professionals and higher
education practitioners. Mario's two books include Postsecondary
Participation and State Policy, by Stylus; and Teachers
Working Together for School Success, by Corwin Press. Mario previously worked at Hewlett-Packard Corporation as a financial analyst and the Governor's Office in the State of Arizona, as a strategic analyst. Mario also was a professional speaker for National Seminars Group over the course of three years. Education
